Liposuction and CoolSculpting® are two popular body contouring tools. The most obvious difference between them is that the first is a surgical procedure and the second is a nonsurgical treatment. So which is the best choice to include in your mommy makeover? Use this guide to help you decide whether liposuction or CoolSculpting could be the most appropriate solution for your unique needs.
What Are Your Goals?
Both liposuction and CoolSculpting can yield comprehensive results in terms of streamlining your physique and eliminating isolated areas of stubborn fat. However, a surgical procedure like liposuction is going to give you more dramatic results in a shorter time frame than nonsurgical CoolSculpting. That being said, if your goal is to minimize downtime, CoolSculpting could be the right fit for you.
Neither of these procedures will address excess or loose skin. That is why most mommy makeovers also include a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, which removes loose skin in the abdominal area and also tightens the abdominal muscles.
Liposuction results can be seen just a few days after your procedure, and they are generally more comprehensive than those achieved through nonsurgical body contouring. CoolSculpting requires several sessions of treatment depending on the area being treated and the amount of correction you need. A session may be performed as part of your mommy makeover, but additional sessions before or afterward also likely will be needed.
What Else Is Part of Your Mommy Makeover?
Liposuction can pair very well with other surgical procedures, such as a tummy tuck or breast augmentation. If other surgical procedures are on your list of must-haves for your mommy makeover, including liposuction could make the most sense for your procedure since you will already have surgical prep and anesthesia.
On the other hand, some people prefer nonsurgical procedures to minimize downtime and avoid surgery. If this is your goal, CoolSculpting could fit in perfectly.
